If you are Android owner,you now can download Deseret Bookshelf for free from Google Play. The application is supporting English language. It weighs in at only 10MB to download. It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version 2.0 has been released on 2015-02-27. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. the audio player is problematic it randomly skips ahead or stops or delays and if you accidentally touch the screen you ll end up in another chapter they need a lock down screen but the biggest issue is the lack of compatibility with bluetooth headsets and car dashboards on other players a long hold or tap of the back arrow brings you back 10 20 30 or 60 seconds but with the Bookshelf app hitting the back arrow brings you to the beginning of the entire chapter this is frustrating             Paul Stout

i am really frustrated with this app i am listening to the Work and the Glory and it only plays about a minute and then shuts off i then have to turn my phone back on and hit the play button again The worst is i have to constantly pay attention where i am in the novel because it will jump ahead two or three chapters and then i have to find my place again it is taking me forever to get through this book i definitely can t just relax and listen to a book Definitely needs to be fixed     Marci DeWitt

I signed up for the service and immediately downloaded the app After logging out and back in clearing data and even re downloading the app it still says that I am a non paying customer As a professional software developer myself I can say that an app like this should work immediately upon subscription This is not an acceptable problem to be encountering         Austin Benesh

Putting aside my feelings about Deseret Book in general this app doesn t boost my opinion much The app dies after less then a minute if I pause my audiobook so I have to go back into the app to hit play again The controls are basic at best nothing to write home about My biggest complaint is that if I want to listen to any audiobooks by LDS authors I m pretty much forced to use this app Why Deseret Book can t figure out a deal with a larger provider like audible or itunes is beyond me Probably so they can continue to overcharge their customer base by monopolizing their content         Brandon Burrup

This app worked great about a month ago I have been using it nearly a year I love it it saves my sanity at work but lately it is going to drive me insane I don t know what updates were released but it won t advance to the next chapter automatically anymore When I try to advance it it either starts the chapter over skips a chapter or starts playing the last chapter and the current chapter at the same time I don t have time to frequently be fixing it while at work             Katherine Ward

A very difficult eReader to use The app always goes back to the beginning of a chapter no matter where in the chapter you left off It forces you to bookmark every time you stop reading so that you can find your place The audio is even worse It also does not remember where in a chapter you left off In addition it stops at the end of every chapter so that you have to re start the audio player all the time You have to continuously take your eyes off the road when driving Very dangerous         craig Day

How hard is it to write a piece of software that plays back audio There are thousands of apps that do and have no problems I have never used such a buggy app as this and part of my job is testing alpha apps The audiobooks skip chapters pause randomly start playing 2 3 chapters at the same time move to the next chapter or 5 ahead in the middle of a chapter Surely Deseret Books has more competent programers than this     Kirk Johnson

While listening to audio books each time the chapter changes the app skips ahead an extra chapter and I have to manually put it back on the right chapter So frustrating Also whenever resuming play it starts over at the beginning of the chapter and I have to remember where I was to skip ahead to the correct spot My husband s app would skip to the epilogue every time he resumed a book The content is great but the app is abysmal         Tahlia Butler

I downloaded this during the free trial to try it out I don t know if I ll even be able to make it through one audiobook The app skips all over the place on its own and sometimes end up in another chapter or plays multiple chapters at the same time I can only download one chapter at a time It does not run smoothly I don t normally give reviews but this could be a wonderful tool where I could read or listen to books I would otherwise never make it through Please fix it     Cheri Carlson

Update 6 12 19 Still broken Original The new upgrade broke things For example the audio will stop playing randomly and every time if you shut off the screen and no this is not because of a setting At the completion of a chapter it randomly picks the next chapter to play an interesting way to listen to a book but probably not what the author intended Reinstalling did not work Deleting and downloading the audio book did not help Please correct and I will update my rating     Don Hokanson

I absolutely love this app I m constantly listening to something I ve been using it for about 6 months and have had a few issues but usually within a day or two I realize it s user error and I find the best way to download the books I want to read listen to next I recommend it to all of my friends and so far everyone that has gotten it has agreed it s amazing                     Chelsea Turner

Discovering new book and the search functions are absolutely horrible The icons are unintuitive and you have to click on each tab to figure out what its for Trying to search for a new book is also almost impossible You can search an author s name but none of the authors works will be listef I have to go to Google look up the author find the book title and use only a couple of words from the title or it still won t find it NEEDS MAJOR WORK for what this costs         D T
